About Us
Bexley Borough Mummies was founded in June 2013 by Ines and Caroline, who met through their local SureStart Children’s Centre. It started with a Facebook group to connect with all the other local mums and invite them to come along for informal meet ups. However, the group was so well received that more events started being organised.
Bexley Borough Mummies liaises with local communities and businesses to help mums and children to develop a social network both virtually and locally. Although the term Mummies is used, fathers, grandparents and carers/educators are welcome to join our group.
Being first time mums, Ines and Caroline realised that it was hard to get out of the house with a small baby and socialise as a parent. They felt that, even though their SureStart Centre could provide them with a few opportunities to go out, meet other mums and allow their daughters to socialise with other children too, their resources and scope were limited. Through the Bexley Borough Mummies Facebook group, Ines and Caroline started arranging local meet-ups such as picnics, walks in the park and library visits.
Bexley Borough Mummies' aims are:
· Helping parents to find activities they can enjoy with their little ones
· Promoting social gatherings for parents and children
· Helping parents and mothers find a local support network locally
· Exchanging advice and experience on different aspects of parenthood, child development and family life
· Supporting the local community
